Roald Aas was a Norwegian speed skater and cyclist who competed in the 1950s and 1960s. He won a gold medal in the 1500 m event at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, sharing the first place with Yevgeny Grishin of the Soviet Union. He also won a bronze medal in the same event at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo. He participated in three Olympic Games and several World and European Championships, where he won one bronze medal each. He was the Norwegian champion in allround speed skating in 1956, and also won the national championships in road cycling and track cycling in the same year. He was awarded the prestigious Egebergs Ærespris in 1956 for his achievements in both speed skating and cycling. He represented Oslo Idrettslag until 1956, and then Oslo Skøiteklub. After his retirement, he worked as a coach and a stock manager. He died in 2012 at the age of 83.
