Frederik van Pallandt

Frederik van Pallandt was a Danish-Dutch singer and actor who was best known as the male half of the singing duo Nina & Frederik, which was together from the late 1950s to the late 1960s. He was born in Copenhagen, the son of a former Dutch ambassador to Denmark and a Danish countess. He married Nina Magdelene Møller-Hasselbalch in 1960, and they performed as Nina & Frederik, singing folk, ethnic, and calypso songs. They became popular in Europe and appeared in several films and television shows. They divorced in 1975, and van Pallandt married María Jesus de Los Rios y Coello de Portugal in 1977. He also worked as a banker and bought Burke's Peerage in 1984. In the 1990s, he moved to the Philippines, where he became involved in drug trafficking. He was shot dead by a drug syndicate in his hut in Puerto Galera in 1994, at the age of 60.
