Alejandro Galindo

Alejandro Galindo was one of the most prolific and praised directors of the Golden Era of Mexican Cinema. He fell in love with movies at an early age and worked in Hollywood as a laboratory technician, editor, assistant director and Spanish translator at MGM. He returned to Mexico in 1930 and worked on radio and as a screenwriter for a few films. He made his debut as feature film director with Rebel Souls (1937). His filmography is very extensive and includes comedy, film noir, horror and drama. He was praised for films that reflect the complexities of modern urban life. Some of his most important films are Campeón sin corona (1946), Una familia de tantas (1949) and Espaldas mojadas (1955). He also worked with famous actors such as Pedro Infante, Cantinflas, Arturo de Córdova and María Félix. He received many awards and recognitions for his work, such as the Ariel Award, the Golden Globe and the Silver Bear. He died of a heart attack in 1999 at the age of 93.
