About me / Bio:
Octav Onicescu was a Romanian mathematician, a member of the Romanian Academy, and considered the founder of the Romanian school of probability theory and statistics. He was born in Botoșani and graduated with degrees in mathematics and philosophy from the University of Bucharest. His career included teaching at the military gymnasium of Dealu Monastery, fighting in World War I, and studying geometry in Rome. He established the School of Statistics and an Institute of Calculus in Bucharest, contributing significantly to the field of mathematics in Romania and internationally.
