Chulalongkorn

King Chulalongkorn, also known as Rama V, was the fifth monarch of Siam under the House of Chakri, reigning from 1868 to 1910. He is renowned for his major reforms in Siam's administration, military, education, and transportation systems, which propelled the country into the modern era. His efforts in diplomacy and negotiation helped Siam retain its sovereignty during a period when many neighboring countries were colonized. Chulalongkorn's reign saw the abolition of slavery and the establishment of compulsory education. His travels abroad influenced his modernization policies, and he is remembered as one of the greatest kings of Siam.
