Le Thi Luu

Lê Thị Lựu was a pioneering Vietnamese female painter known for her silk and oil paintings. Born in 1911 in Gia Lam, Hanoi, she became one of the first women to attend the École des Beaux-Arts de l’Indochine. Her work is characterized by a blend of realism, classicism, expressionism, and impressionism. Lựu's career spanned several decades, during which she faced many challenges, including a period of artistic inactivity. Nevertheless, she left a significant mark on Vietnamese modern art and is remembered for her contributions to the field.
