Abdul Rauf Benawa

Abdul Rauf Benawa was a distinguished Afghan writer, poet, journalist, historian, and social activist. Born in 1913 in Kandahar, he was a prolific figure in Afghan literature and culture. His works often reflected his educational and nationalistic fervor, with a series of educational poems titled "Sad Reflection" being one of his major contributions. Benawa's life was marked by his dedication to social activism and his role in shaping Afghan intellectual thought. He spent his later years in exile in the United States, where he continued his literary pursuits until his death in 1985.
