About me / Bio:
Sayed Yousuf Halim was a distinguished Afghan jurist known for his tenure as the Chief Justice of Afghanistan from 2015 to 2021. Born in Nangarhar Province in 1959, he dedicated his life to the field of justice, starting his career in the justice ministry in 1985. He served as Deputy Minister of Justice for Administrative Affairs in 2009 and as Deputy Minister of Justice for Legal Affairs from 2010 to 2014. Appointed as Acting Minister of Justice by President Hamid Karzai in 2014, he was later appointed Chief Justice by President Ashraf Ghani. His commitment to justice and legal reform in Afghanistan was unwavering, even in the face of political upheaval and conflict. After going into exile following the 2021 Taliban offensive, he passed away in Emirates' Humanitarian City in Abu Dhabi after a heart attack. His legacy is marked by his efforts to uphold the rule of law and his contributions to the Afghan judicial system.
