About me / Bio:
Kefee was born on February 5, 1980 in Sapele, Delta, Nigeria. She grew up in a religious family and joined the church choir at a young age. She developed a passion for music and started writing and composing songs. In 2000, she released her first album titled "Trip". In 2003, she signed with Alec's Entertainment, a record label founded by her former choir director and ex-husband Alec Godwin. She released her second album "Branama" that same year, which became a hit and earned her the nickname "Branama Queen". She followed up with "Branama 2" in 2005, "A Piece of Me" in 2008, and "A Chorus Leader" in 2012. She also released an EP titled "Dan Maliyo" in 2012. Some of her most popular songs include "Branama", "Kokoroko", "Igbunu", and "Thank You". She collaborated with other artists such as Timaya, Yinka Ayefele, and Sunny Neji. She was awarded the International Young Ambassador for Peace Award in 2009 and the Headies Award for Best Collaboration in 2010. She was also a UN Peace Ambassador and a vocal advocate for women's rights and education. She married radio host Teddy Esosa Don-Momoh in 2013. She died on June 12, 2014 in Los Angeles, California, after being in a coma for 15 days due to lung failure. She was buried on July 11, 2014 in her hometown Okpara Inland, Ethiope East, Delta, Nigeria. She was mourned by her fans, friends, and family. She left behind a legacy of inspiring and uplifting gospel music that touched many lives.
