Terry Wogan

Terry Wogan was a popular and influential radio and television broadcaster who worked for the BBC for most of his career. He was known for his witty and warm personality, his distinctive voice and his Irish humour. He hosted several shows on BBC Radio 2, including the breakfast show Wake Up to Wogan, which had millions of loyal listeners. He also presented many TV programmes, such as the chat show Wogan, the game show Blankety Blank, the charity telethon Children in Need and the Eurovision Song Contest, which he commented on with his trademark sarcasm. He was widely regarded as a national treasure and a broadcasting legend. He received many awards and honours, including a knighthood in 2005. He died in 2016 after a short battle with cancer, leaving behind his wife and four children. He was mourned by his fans, colleagues and friends, who remembered him as a generous, kind and talented man.
