Eliezer Gomes was a Brazilian actor, who was born as Taufik Jacob in 1920. He was the son of two Polish Jewish immigrants, a shoemaker and a housewife. He started his artistic career as a radio announcer and actor, and later moved to television, where he was a pioneer, creating TV de Vanguarda, a television theater popular in the 1950s. He also acted in many films, such as O Assalto ao Trem Pagador, where he played the role of Tião Medonho, a criminal leader. He won several awards for his performance, such as Best Actor at the Festival of Cinema of Bahia and Best Revelation at the Troféu Cinelândia. He died of a stroke in 1979, at the age of 58.
