Walter Gotell

Walter Gotell was a German actor who emigrated to the United Kingdom after the Nazis came to power. He started his acting career in 1942, usually playing villains and German officers. He became famous for his role as General Gogol, head of the KGB, in the James Bond film series. He appeared in seven Bond films, from The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) to The Living Daylights (1987). He also had roles in other films such as The African Queen (1951), The Guns of Navarone (1961), The Boys from Brazil (1978) and Cuba (1979). He also made numerous guest appearances in television series such as The Saint, The A-Team, Star Trek: The Next Generation and The X-Files. He was married twice and had one daughter. He died of cancer in 1997 at the age of 73.
